Let The Light In
Wednesday Jul 17, 2024
Wednesday Jul 17, 2024
It's an oft-repeated theme that needs to be constantly reinforced. The lens you see the world with is determined by the beliefs you hold to be true even though they might not be. In optics, the aperture of an optical system is a hole or an opening that primarily limits light propagated through the system. So the more light you let in, the clearer things become. It is easy with a camera, not so much for human beings, and while it's difficult, it's also worth the effort. As old friend Wayne Dyer insisted, "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change."

The Journey
Saturday Jul 13, 2024
Saturday Jul 13, 2024
At lunch this past week, I was asked "How did this all start for you?" Answering that question has been an ongoing exercise for nearly 30 years about the great game of connect-a-dots and the absolute knowing that whatever you seek...is seeking you. Whether or not you take the journey is a choice, but as Louis Pasteur insisted, "Chance favors the prepared mind."

THE WEDNESDAY RANT
Wednesday Jul 10, 2024
Wednesday Jul 10, 2024
So here we go again. Another tug of war for the White House between Biden and Trump. It's an ongoing reality show for the masses, and like most reality shows, illusion is what creates how we see the show. But, what if, we could use Artificial Intelligence (AI seems to be better than real human intelligence) and build the "Perfect POTUS" and skip all the BS? Imagine creating a hologram (like Michael Jackson who still performs after his death) with elements and characters from the top 10 presidents of all time. Hmmm, what then?

SHARK WEEK
Monday Jul 08, 2024
Monday Jul 08, 2024
Since 1988, Shark Week has captivated audiences around the world, which is a good thing. The sharks have no idea how popular they have become, and usually only make the headlines when they take a bite out of someone, often with deadly results. But the few human fatalities are nothing compared to the fact that humans take 100 million sharks out of the world's oceans every year, seriously putting the water world out of balance. Another episode of Earth Matters Monday.

Mission Possible
Saturday Jul 06, 2024
Saturday Jul 06, 2024
It's been said that the two most important days of your life are the day you were born, and the day you figure out why. Most people never take the road less traveled, where their mission is waiting for them. Life is set up like a game of connect-a-dots but you don't get to see the mosaic until you reach a point of clarity. If you go within, you'll never go without but taking a deep dive is an arduous task and it's not until you clear out the septic tank of experiences, can you begin to understand that whatever you are seeking, is seeking you.

Lawn Balance
Monday Jul 01, 2024
Monday Jul 01, 2024
We are smack dab in the middle of summer with a few months left of grass-cutting before we can park the mower. Last summer, I swapped out my gas-belching mower for a sleek, new E-powered Black & Decker and never looked back. Americans will spend an estimated 127 billion dollars on lawn care and maintenance and the time has come to stop bombarding your lawn and let nature have a little corner to keep the balance. Add in a brand-new "Earth Matters with Bill Kurtis" and you have another outing in environmental audio excellence.

Saturday Jun 29, 2024
Cimcie Nichols is a formidable combination of nature and nurture. She was my producer on "The Bridge" radio show that had us in conversation with Beijing daily for a year. Since then, she's gone through the gauntlet of change and has emerged as a certified practitioner in Sound Therapy, Reiki, and Herbalism, dedicated to holistic well-being. Over two decades of sobriety and a rich background in sales and marketing for wellness, brands have equipped her to guide individuals through life’s challenges without reliance on drugs or alcohol. She's the oldest daughter of the late, great 8-time Grammy award-winning sound engineer Roger "The Immortal" Nichols and is now reaching out to the Life 2.0 listeners to get the Hatchet Granny non-alc craft beverages launched to the commercial market!

Earth Matters Monday
Monday Jun 24, 2024
Monday Jun 24, 2024
There I was, cleaning up the Aurora Media Productions studio when I came across a letter that Bill Kurtis passed along to me a decade ago. It was from a listener of the Earth Matters radio vignettes and the changes they made, that caused a positive ripple effect, simply from listening to a one-minute short-form show. Next thing I know, I'm firing up the microphone and launching "Earth Matters Monday" in an attempt to interject common sense into our uncommon times.

The Newsman-John McEuen

Saturday Jun 22, 2024
John McEuen has been called "A Father of Americana Music."
Best known as a founding member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, he is a key figure in the history of American folk music. Born in Oakland, California, McEuen grew up outside of Los Angeles. He began playing the banjo at age 17, after hearing live bluegrass at a club near his home.
That night changed McEuen’s life. He introduced his high school friend, comedian Steve Martin, to the banjo and both fell in love with the instrument together. John would go on to an incredible Grammy Award winning career, and shares his latest effort "The Newsman-A Man of Record" a spoken word album that is shaking up the charts.
